Christmas Art Camp!!!
December 26, 2014
In addition to the traditional summer art camp, Abs decided to have a holiday camp as well. Her motives were many....she would get to see her girls (and a few boys) again, help her sweet campers to create original Christmas presents for their families, raise money for her upcoming service trip to Peru. I am very proud of her. Here is what she wrote to the parents of her campers.
"A large reason that I decided to hold a winter Camp Yaya session is to fundraise for a medical service trip to Peru that I will be taking at the end of my Christmas Break, from January 3rd -11th. Along with a group of Boston College students, we will be serving an impoverished community in Cusco, Peru through an organization called MEDLIFE. While this organization provides education, medical, and community development aid to communities in Ecuador, Peru, and Tanzania, my specific trip will be focusing on medical aid. Due to the expenses of this trip, we are being asked to fundraise all of the money, which will be used towards the MEDLIFE programs being implemented in Cusco. Therefore, all of the money that I make from these winter Camp Yaya sessions will go directly towards helping the impoverished in Cusco and funding my Boston College MEDLIFE trip to Peru!"
The work that the kids created is so fresh and full of life. The paintings speak for themselves...imaginative and unique. Their magical snowglobes were a treat for them to create and they were enchanted by them afterward. (Such a sweet and fairly easy project). And the cork Christmas trees were such fun for them to decorate...each had it's own personality...much like the creators!! Happy holidays to you and yours!!
